In the Art Room, a variety of formative and summative assessment tools are in place. Students are expected to keep and maintain a digital portfolio (Elementary – Seesaw, Secondary – Website via Google Sites). As students navigate the design process and plan their works of of art, they design project design plans with goals, daily studio check-ins (painting, drawing, etc), and reflect with exit tickets. Students are expected to request feedback from peers and the teacher as part of the artist process for submitting a finished composition.
In addition, student artwork is assessed via rubrics using the Studio Habits of Mind. Students are expected to reflect and self-assess at the completion of each work of art with an artist statement.
